Visiting the Capital of Egypt

Egypt is famous for many things, but one of the most famous locations is its capital, Cairo. If you only visit one city during your time in the country, make sure it is this one. Not only is it pleasantly close to the Sphinx and the famous Pyramids, it also has plenty to share with you in other ways.

For starters the city stretches back way into the past and there are still many signs of these ancient times that can be seen today. This is just one reason why a slow walk around various parts of the city can reveal much to you that you wouldn’t see otherwise. Never be surprised by the sights you see here – they can be quite spectacular in many ways.

Look out for the Muizz Street during your travels too. This has the distinction of being the first street in Egypt to have been paved. Not only is this something for Cairo itself to be proud of, it has also taken great pains to ensure the whole street is renovated and restored to glories it once knew in times gone by. For instance it is now able to be referred to as an open air museum, thanks to the extensive work that has taken place on it.

But while a tour of Egypt’s past can be undertaken simply by focusing on this one street, the whole of Cairo is a sensational place full of sights and sounds bombarding you from every angle. Islamic Cairo is a fascinating place to visit as the very structure of it is different from the one you will find in the city centre. Expect to see narrow streets and even ones that stretch back further into the past than some which are in other areas.

If you have never been to Cairo before you should be aware that it is an assault on the senses at first, albeit in the nicest of ways. This is one of the most amazing cities in the world, with lots to try and take in. Make sure you have the time to do so.
